The characters are the Nostromo’s crew, normal people in a future environment just doing their job, its fun to see how normal “space work” would be like in the future, they act natural through the movie like it is just another day in work and with each other.  Parker and Brett are great to bring humor, Brett being more the laidback type and Parker outspoken, Ash starts to feel suspicious half way through the movie and ends up having a secret, Lambert is the most caution one, easier one to get afraid and gets mentally broken through the movie, Dallas is a reluctant leader facing a unexceted challenge and feels guilty of not being able to handle it, Kane is the cocky adventurous type, a contrast to Lambert, and his curiosity turns back on him. Ripley is the voice of reason sometimes, other times being cocky and provocative as well, in regards her disputes with Parker. All characters have their flaws, which is realistic, their personalities aren’t idealistic, even the one that survives doesn’t escape this, despite her flaws Ripley kept going no matter what and adapted to what was necessary.

They aren’t super heroes, they are just normal people facing something in order to survive, just employers caught in the middle of something. Everyone played their part well. Some characters stand out more than others and there are only minor things that could gone better, the extra dialogue scenes from fanedits can improve this.

The movie goes quite slow at first, it takes a while for something to happen, first it focusses on the characters and the setting we are in, so there is the introducion of each character and how they are like. Then we get to the exploration of the unknown ship, which we are left with a lot of questions , we just feel that there is a lot of history behind of what happened in there and I remember the first time that I saw it and  wondered  who was that creature in the chair, why were the eggs in the ship, why they were carrying it, it looked like the eggs were put as shipment in there(contrary to the queen laying them theory), so  where did they come from?

As the movie goes we are introduced to the alien and its life cycle, which is quite interesting, then it becomes a true horror movie in space, the killer start to stalk and kill the characters and we got a the information that Ash is a android send by the company to get the alien which brings more question, since how does this company know about the alien? Do they have knowlodge of the space jockey and who they are? The avp movies and prometheus kind of answered that in their own way, with the company probably creating those space travels just to get a change to get the more about the aliens and the jockeys. The mystery of the movie and how many can interpret it is what makes it so great to me.

Design/Behavior: 10/10

Thanks to Giger, the whole alien creature and its lifecycle are interesting, a work of art and just fucked up, I mean from a simple egg comes a creature who seen to have the only purpose of finding a host and impregnating him, by rape , the sexual symbolism in this movie is intense, they enter the ship through a door that resembles a pussy and inside there are the eggs, the alien head look like a dick, its tongue it resembles a erection and so on. The facehugger makes the part of the male and the host of a female. It makes the host have an alien baby inside that get its miracle of birth by killing its “mother”. We get this snake like creature that quickly grown into something incredible, I thought of how something could grow so fast? The only tip we get its the commentary of the characters saying that some part of the ship have been missing, the alien probally ate anything that he came across to use as fuel to him, its like a machine, how does a living creature survive and grow by eating inorganic matter?

And when we see it fully grown, it doesnt like that organic because of its biomechanical features, it just doesnt seen like a work of evoluction, and makes me thing how the space jockey got them from, its acid blood makes it look like it was made in a way so that no one would dare to stop it, exactly they were made by someone. Normally creatures take a long time to adapt themselfs to enviromental conditions but aliens adapt way too quickly as Ash says, nature just doesnt seen to be good enough to create something as those bioweapons, then I think again of the space jockey and the possicle creation of the alien. Even before Prometheus, the jockeys already seemed to me like those god complexed creatures who by its own arrogance ends up creating something that ends up overpowering them.

As for the adult alien design, this is the true alien, the true perfect organism, forget all the others there is nothing that could be done to improve this guy, the other movies just messed thing up. The translucid head is just the best, its the domed head but we can see inside the ridged part so it have both features. The adult alien proceeds to capture the crew, its attacks the guys by penetrating them with its tongue, like if its reapeting the process of rape again, then it got quite interested by Lambert, probally noticing that she is different from the others humans, he decides to have soem fun with her, its not just a killing machine, its a damn raping machine, from the moment it comes out the egg all it thinks its rape , damm you Giger you crazy bastard, look what you created. The creation of the egg in this movie movie comes from the transformation of a body into an egg, which is of course disturbing as the rest of the creature. Aliens are a like vírus that just want to spread and create more of itself.

This movie is the only that makes me see the Alien as something other than an animal moved by instincts, and makes me wonder about his level on consciousness. The Alien acts like a child experimenting the world around, curious about the things that surround him, mainly the characters, he doesn’t just attack people like a raging animal, he seems interesting in what is before him, studing his prey before attacking unless threated. Is it aware of himself? About it’s own existence? Can it think about life and death? Is it aware of how it was born, about the pain it causes to others?

There is a lot of ambiguity in regards to the Alien creature, how its mind works. It’s the least animal like interpretation of the creature, it looked more humanoid than any of the others, and the human like posture makes it creepier than the raptor like ones from the sequels.

Like in the novelization Ash tells the others to try to communicate with it, as it could be actually be smart enough to understand them and when asked if he tried to talk with it, he doesn’t answer. Whatever the Alien is a smart conscious being or just an animal following its instincts is up for the viewer to decide.

It is so left to interpretation, as far as fan theories go, some said the Alien had inherited Kane’s mind and memories or that Kane councioness was transferred to the Alien, making a reborn Kane in a way. It could as smart as a person and yet choosing to kill the crew merely for curiosity. Same thing with what many fans believes it did to Lambert, how it raped her with its tail. Knowing she was a female, it tried to perform the male part just for curiosity, wondering if it could work with it or if it could get something out of it, aware of human sex due to Kane’s memories.

Also, something that was in some earlier drafts of the script: Its only acting violent because its alone and young, without other members of its kind to civilize it. Like a feral human born in the wild without anyone to learn morality from. They could actually be a smart species, capable of language and communication, very different from what they became later, the main Alien violence due to not being born in its society and lost like a kid left in the woods. What I like is the so many ways one could look at the Alien. Is it acting like it should or is it acting violent due to its isolation from others of his kind?

Then there is the theory that it was already dying at the end in the Narcissis, if the eggs were used as weapons to clean up life off planets, it would be quite useful if the aliens naturally died after killing all its inhabitants, having short lifecycle. Leaving the planet free to the ones that bombed it with eggs to colonize it.

Its mainly due to this ambiguity of the creature that the first movie is my favorite. It is truly an Alien creature to us. We have no idea of what it is on its mind.

Extended FanVersion:

The extra dialogue scenes improve the movie, I always felt characters like Kane and Brett could have had a few extra lines, since they go out sooner, and we got this now. The scenes also help developing their relationships with the others. There is a lot of extra footage of the ships, some changes on the music of some scenes.

The extra shots of the Alien and its kills were great, shows how much of an incredible design it is, it looks great. It might look as some say a man in a suit, but the fact the creature’s stance looks so manlike only makes it creepier for me, the first movie gives it a more unknown humanoid nature that the following weren’t able to replicate, go into the animal bug version. On Brett’s death we get to see the alien start crushing his skull before the headbite, later with Parker and Lambert it shows much more.

Some scenes are in quite bad quality but for me wasn’t enough to ruin the experience. I was really caught off guard for that part on the Derelict which we see those Space Jockey’s drawings displaying the Alien’s life cycle.

From truck drivers to marines, an interesting change I think as it moves towards an action-oriented movie, great memorable characters, some say that the Hudson parts were too much but I thought they were great, each marine was unique and I liked them. Hudson is the joker, Apone makes a great fun squad leader, Vasquez and Drake are cocky, Gorman is an inexperienced officer who takes too long to realize it, Hicks is a laidback second in command that is forced to step up and get in charge of the situation and he develops a good relationship with Ripley. Most of the others did they part well, and since it takes a while for the action to start, most are well developed.

Burke was the new Ash, but an even more dislikable antagonist due to his cowardice nature, Bishop was very likeable and I liked the way both characters’s relationship with Ripley developed through the movie. The relationship between Ripley and Newt was the most emotional part of the movie, as one has lost a daughter and the other her parents and together, they find a way to deal with their lost on each other, but the change of Ripley to a Rambo at the end bugged me a little. And I felt some marines could have last a little longer, some didn’ had much lines. Wierzbowski and Crowe were wasted, barely showed, you need to pay attention to realize Crowe even exists, considering how long it takes for the action to happen and the amount of time we have with just people walking on silence, they could have easily added a few lines for them.

The idea to see how the alien would go against trained soldiers and a place completed infected with them was great, like ALIEN it takes quite some time for action to start, it takes its time to build suspense on what happened to the colony, we meet the characters, we get more worldbuilding on the ALIEN universe, it does well on stabilishing the future military setting. All the tech used, weapons, vehicles, thought they were creative and fun to see, it does help you get the viewer into the future we are in.

There is much more action, with more apperances of the aliens like I wanted, despite being more action oriented each battle starts in a horror way due to the aliens’s attack from shadows and surprise jumps. It was able to mix perfectly a horror setting with characters that can fight back, I just wished for more gore, every time that an alien is going to kill someone, they dont show it. In the end it’s a simple but effective story, colony goes silent and marines are sent to find out what happended and after facing the creatures they need to run their asses off. Its was the best scifi military horror mystery story.

I didn’t mind the change of the head that much, but didn’t see the need to change the color to bluer like, the number of fingers I don’t care, the heigh I do, in some scenes they look really small next to the characters, which make them look fragile compared to Kane’son. I liked how human-like the original alien looked, made it more disturbing, here they got more bug-like, due to the lifecycle introduction and the bug hunt marine thing.

But mainly the design is the same, I loved it but in comparison to the original it’s just inferior. At least they are biomechanical, something that sadly would be more and more removed in the next entries.

 Behavior: 7/10

I liked how fast and strong they are shown in some scenes, how the kicked the marine’s ass at the first part, focusing on surprise and shadows to take them fast, the way they were shown… The movie doesn’t show them completely and focus on a few fast shots as they take the victims, for the most part they did their job well but I didnt like how in some scenes with and Ripley, Vasques was able to hold off an alien to shoot and kill him with just a pistol, weird that just seconds after Gorman shoots another and the bullets bounces off it.

Ripley killed many of them while they just stood there doing nothing, they were so slow with her, while the trained marines had trouble. I know Ripley was the main character and couldn’t die, but still its not an excuse to make the aliens look weak, they just stood there staring at her while she blowed the whole hive up and the queen instead of just killing her as soon as possible. The aliens slowed down in relation to Ripley, but with the other characters that they didn’t act much different from how I imagine the first alien would.

 The Queen: 8/10

queen

I’m actually not a such big fan of her, the egg laying system just seemed not that alien and the ambiguity of the creature is gone, they are just shown as some sort of super bugs. The egg morphing was just as fucked up like the rest of its life cycle, I liked it and there could be other ideas on how to make the eggs, and the queen made the “normal” aliens look inferior next to her.

Its design just seemed not that great compared to Giger’s alien and not as biomechanical and I liked a genderless view on the Alien, but still a great creation of Stan Winston and I in the end I don’t mind this choose this path with the creature, it would be better than to not have a sequel at all.

Crazy prisioners that created a religion and a god just to deal with their own misery: I liked how religion and its characters were used in this movie, the fact the prisioners were monsters just like the alien and Dillon’ phrases made it look to them that the alien was a demon sent by their god as punishment for their sins. Its cool their attempt to create a religious explanation for something unknown like the alien, and even thought we may feel a little sorry for the humans, in some way is like they are getting what they deserve considering what they have done. Fiorina was a great depressing enviroment, to see how prisioners in a future setting are, adds more to the ALIEN universe, it is interesting.

But most characters were just used as food to the alien, they could have explored them more, more of their past, but I can understand why they decided to focus more on Ripley, which I think went very well. Clemens was a very good character and I didn’t want him to go down that soon, but soome prisioners were kind of silly and they kind of just looked all the same. For the first time its hard to set some of the minor characters apart.

History/development: 7/10

productionstill51.jpg

I know everybody was expecting an even bigger movie than ALIENS but it was a nice way to end Ripley history and move on to more about the aliens themselves and their origin. Hell at least its how it should have went afterwards.

The chasing scenes were great, and the way the prisioners reacted to the alien was cool, but the main thing in here is Ripley sacrifice, she ended up losing every one that she loved, ‘raped’ by its worst enemy, forced to bear a new queen, the ending was really good and sad. I mean its a depressing movie: Ripley’s end, Clements’ history, the enviroment itself is depressing, prisioners losing their faith.

Once again people small people being used by bigger people, it was nice to see the company “face” in the end, some issues are like the main plothole: how the egg or eggs got in the ship? Did the queen layed them or what? Some facehuggers impregnate people with only queens? Or was it just facehuggers that got on board despite an egg appearing? Did the same facehugger impregnate the 2 hosts?

I just would really enjoy an explanation, but probably there is none, they just went on without considering the issue. It was through this movie that the alien DNA reflex was confirmed, which I liked, and the addition of the Queen/Royal facehugger, which I don’t think its much necessary, aliens could easily adapt and make a normal one molt into one, I don’t mind as just one of the possible pathways in their lifecycle and I understand how it fitted well with Ripley’s end.

Hicks and Newt’s off-screen deaths were… disappointing, the impact of them were important for Ripley’s arc but it was too fast, right at the start. It feels like some of what happened in ALIENS was wasted. I liked what the movie leads up to, but not what it uses to get there.

The Alien 6.5/10:

6208204696379652

 Design: 6/10

The sad start of ADI in the alien franchise, the birth of the alien from a different host was a nice start, but… well the alien lost some biomechanical features, even the tubes in the back, even its due to being a quadrupede.

I don’t like the color and some of the fleshier parts of it, and in the CG moments it looks fake. The change on the design was distracting. But since its not as bad as the ones that will come next, I’m half okay with it. At least he looked the right size for the most part.

Behavior: 7/10

Back to one alien being a unstopable bastard, great right? The aliens have been shown as creatures which only goal was to spread its species but doggie just kills everything, he cOmes across, I know that there is no queen but there will be soon so why not capture some humans? And the lonely alien could be a nice way to go back to the egg morphing. Not killing Ripley was a smart move but why let her wandering around? Someone could kill her or maybe she could like kill herself fucking up the chances of the queen being born, capturing her would guarantee the birth of the queen, isnt the protection of the queen the main priority? But I suppose that would fuck the plot up, still they could have found a way to fix some of those little things.

Characters/acting: 6.5/10

alien-resurrection-people-1200-1200-675-675-crop-000000

The concept of the characters had potential, the soldiers, scientists, mercenaries, there were good ideas and they could have been better if there was more time to develop, but compared to the other alien movie, this one is quite rushed, doesn’t take much long for the shit hits the fans and afterwards the characters are too focused on action to develop more through conversations. Many were wasted, and since there scenes takes turns between the different factions, there was less time for each to appear. A team comprised of members who are antagonist towards each other but are forced to work together to survive + one being a host for the aliens during it all is very interesting, but due to boring parts and a climax that reached prematurally, it doesn’t go to its full potential. Some characters died too soon, when the action starts, and that part was good, it felt like there wasn’t much more for the characters to do, but the movies kept going so it could lead to the bad finale.

The scientists were fine, Perez and the military were underused. Distephano was wasted barely having any lines and they could have using him having a struggle between decing to side with its bosses or the mercenaries, Hillard was mostly wasted, Elgyn had some more screentime at the start so its fine. Johner and Chrstie were fine, but had some bad lines. Vriess bring some adversities to the situation, but he got quite annoying after a while, and I couldn’t care for his stuff with Call, which I ended not liking at all, really my least favorite android of the series. Didn’t like the concept they brough through her. But the worse is of course…

Ripley 8. Her history was over, this is the alien series not ripley series, just seemed to be all about her, its time to move on to something else. Every scene of her just reminded me how I disliked this approach. I guess she isn’t exactly Ripley, her personality isn’t likeable, they develop more her link with the aliens and made her character deeper instead of just giving her super streng and showing it off to the viewer. Her supposedly funny lines just made me cringe.

History/Plot development: 5/10

24263294_4

Ok let’s start with the things that were good: the idea of scientists actually breeding aliens and studying aliens in a military ship is really cool. Always wanted to see how aliens would react being breed and controled by humans and Weyland-Yutani finally getting its hands on the aliens… but no, its not the same company anymore, since 200 hundred years have past, why make such a gap? Its just too far away from the others movies, feels like a different universe, and not in technology sense, the weapons actually don’t seen that stronger, the universe just doesn’t look as good, they could have find so many ways of making the aliens come back without Ripley, like finding another space jockey ship with eggs… anything, its not that hard, it was due to advertising Weaver, and considering she wanted to die on 3 why would she be up for this… oh yeah money. Making Ripley be cause of the alien being back is like a big fuck you to all her sacrifice in alien 3, I suppose WY getting aliens in anyway kind of devaluates her sacrifice but in that case, we wouldn’t have any more movies so fuck it. I can buy how they cloned Ripley by using her dna but having the alien being brought back with her felt too mcuh, I know its sci-fi but felt too forced even with the novel actually bothering to explain.

The movie can be fun to watch for some of the action/gore scenes like the underwater/ladder sequence but those only help the movie a bit, there are fun parts spread across the movie, the issue is what we got to watch between those. The pacing of the movie is an outlier for alien movies, much faster paced, we see aliens much sooner, there is a lot more going on at the start, leaving less time for character development, when shits hits the fan it still takes a while for a cool moment to begin, lots of moments when its just people walking, the movie climax prematurely and afterwards its pretty much boring, after the main action sequence nothing comes on pair with it, but the movie keeps going with nothing worthy to show, which leads us a new big bad guy who is just a big disapointment.

Making ripley’s clone get super powers is stupid, again its all about her, and I’m just more interested in the aliens themselfs than her, but alI we get from the aliens is a knocked-up queen. And that weird thing. The world we are set on doesn’t seen so interesting anymore, I didn’t the overall tone of the movies, the brown/yellow look everything had, the whole style is just too far from the first 2 movies.  The weapons, equipments, all the tech wasn’t as cool as the ones in the previous movie, it was able to make you get into the universe its set on.

Apperance: 3/10

They look like shit, and the sad part its that it is literal, they have shit color, their biomechanical features are all gone, wtf happened, I hope Giger didnt see this, its too much for him. They added chicken legs, made hands/fingers bigger, changed their sounds. None I liked. Some parts the CGI wasn’t so good, but not Alien 3 bad. There have fun moments and you can view their bodies more than in the other movies, but since look so bad its wortless, if we had the original aliens doing the same shots these ones did it would be awesome. Even the hive looks bad, too brown like.

Behavior: 8.5/10

They were smart, fast, strong, not used as much cannon fodder like in Aliens, but acted like raptors, they stay in a  crounch like position most of the time, they didn’t look or act humanoid as the ones before, they remind me of runner, which they shouldn’t since they came out of humans. And considering their numbers, I don’t get why more didn’t went to help kill the humans, after a certain part of the movie they just disappear.

 The Queen: 5/10

Alien-Queen-Alien-REsurrection

Not much different than the one from ALIENS in regards to design, but they gave her that brownish tone she dont participated much in the movie, her presence is a complete waste and the getting pregnant shit was a big fuck you to the alien lifecycle, that was all she was there for.

Can’t think of any movie with more baddass characters, memorable lines, just perfect. Dutch and Dillon’s relationship development throught the movie was very well done, they were likeable and it is a surprise how they come into conflict and then closure. The bromance between Mac and Blaine, how Mac becomes emotionally affected leading him to hasty decision, both showed a great display of brotherwood and it got its sad moments, Hawkins got funny moments, Poncho got some fun moments, they all work better with each other. Billy serious mysterious way stands up, as we see him aware of the issue around while the others remain lost.

Something else is that in a way the characters are not much different than the creature, they are killers, and its interesting how they ended up getting the fate as the people that they killed: Being murdered by a higher predator. But then again, we can be more sympathetic as Dutch choose to focus on rescue missions instead of just killing for money. This is also the movie that Arnie showed his best acting, you can actually that him seriously in here and all the others do great too.

History/Plot development: 10/10

predator005

So, one of the best teams are sent down by the goverment on a rescue mission on the jungle, but ends up they were just used by the goverment to do their dirty job, on the way out of the jungle they started to get stalked by something. Its a faster paced movie compared to the alien ones, action starts early, and since the beggining we see that something strange is going on in the jungle. Skinned bodies, something in the trees watching the characters, it really builded a suspense when I watched the first time, then we get a change to see why Dutch’s team are the best, the first firefight is just great. It shows that in this jungle its all about the survivor of the strongest, and in this case for now its Dutch’s team. They are the predators, but when a higher predator comes along, they become the prey.

Then the killing starts, some ended up losing their mind as the creature acts, since they cannot explain whats happening, Mac put his mind on his obsessive revenge, Billy seems to understand that this is too much for them, Anna sees it as a force of nature and we see the most badass group of people getting vulnerable.  Like they are the harmless teenagers of a slasher movie. They are truly powerless for the first time in who know how long. Then they decide to fight back, but the traps don’t work. Mac, Dillon and Billy’s sacrifice and the last stand still isn’t enough. The Predator reveal is just incredible, then we have Dutch’s fight againt the pred, which is a fight to see which one will be the predator this time, and Dutch must act like the pred, become the pred, becoming invisible, hiding in trees… like going back to nature you know?

Behind this pretty world that society tries to build… in the end its all what predators and prey, only the strongest will survive in nature. And the predator kind of forced Dutch to, humans have found their way on the top of the chain food in Earth, and we think of yourself as the ultimate preds in here but the pred shown us that they are still bigger predators out there. The manliest movie ever, pure badass, also something I liked was the ‘conversation’ between Dutch and the Pred, Dutch asks what the hell the pred is and the preds repeats it back at him, it can be interpreted in many ways. “Do you think I’m the monster?” “Do I surprise you?” “Guess what? I see you the same way”. Like what could be the first contact between mankind and an alien resumes to question that shows that how close and distant one species is to understanding one another.

Music is incredible, fits well and helps improve the athmosphere and suspense, it’s the kind that at a certain scene it is able to improve it a lot.

The Predator 10/10:

Predator_searching_for_Dutch

Design:  10/10

The dreads, mandibles, eyes, weapons, armor, just makes it one of the best creations in movie history ever, everything about it is just plain badass.

Behavior. 10/10

It sees Dutch’s team as they enter the jungle, and watch them to see if they are a worth hunting, when it sees that they are great killers, the killing starts. The Pred decides to take its time to kill them and is in control of the whole situation, he could kill all the characters really easy but decides to kill them one by one, with no hurry, its like if it want to enjoy every second of the hunt, seems to enjoy the prey’s fear to what is going on, and likes to scary and play with its prey. He enjoys picking one trophy at the time, maybe waiting to see how the group will react against the threat they are facing, if they capable of adapting to the situation, instead of just killing them while they sleep. He is always watching them,

Like when instead of killing Dutch with the plasma caster, decides to only wound him, to have fun with the group leader. In the end when it takes it some of its own medicine, by fighting againt something it cannot see and that is able to make it feel like the prey, make it feel like its being hunted. At the end of the fight it sees Dutch as an equal, a worthy oppoenent, someone who gave him the challenge he was looking for and instead of killing him easily, decides to fight him hand to hand, a lot people say its because of their honor system, but thats just bullshit to me, its more a personal code some of their kind have.

I mean whats the honor of hiding in the tree invisible and shooting people with a plasma caster and now fighting something that he knows isnt a match to him? The pred just finded the opponent he wanted, someone that gave him some challenge and now its time to enjoy his last kill. This pred is just a monster, and in the end when it is defeated, it just decided to take Dutch with him, biggest fuck you ever, the pred is like saying “you think you won? take this” then starts the evillest laugh ever. As expected of a sadistic, psycopathic creature that kills for sport and pleasure.

I didn’t like the characters as much as the first movie, and being as fast paced as it is, their development is rushed, but still Harrigan, Keyes, Lambert were great but still not as good as in PREDATOR, the rest just didnt appeared that much or I just didnt care. And the main characters could get more screen time. The way the investigation develops and how the characters react to the Predator’s acts reminds of the first movie, it’s a similar situation on a different settting, but Keyes’s team added on the history, bringing another player into the mix. They weren’t on Dutch’s team level, but still good overall.

History/Development: 9/10

Predators 2 1990 2

I have seen a lot of people hating this movie because of its setting but that was on of the best points of it, to see the pred hunting in a different enviroment is really cool. They keep the whole aspect of the hunt, the horror aspect of the predator, being called a demon, the “supernatural” beliefs of those around, but the tension and fear wasn’t as perfect as the original.

So we have this new pred hunting during a massive gang war in the city, we follows the cops as they watch the pred eliminate the gangs and a special goverment team seems to know what is going on and is after the pred. Not as mysterious as the first one, but the more scenes with pred, its new weapons, and lots of action makes up for it with incredible scenes, loved how this pred goes to much more shit than the first one, getting gun fired, losing a hand… and in the end he acted normally and just cured himself like if it was nothing.

Music takes a lot from the first movie while adding some more tribal beats to it, incredible.

The Predators 10/10

city-hunter-05

  Pussyface 9,75

Design: Almost as great as the first one, in regards of its armor, but its face and coloration actually made him look even more baddass than Anytime, its weapons looked really pred-like and were a great addition to the movie. 10/10

Behavior: Another great performance of KPH, I liked pussyface personality. He stars its hunt by killing members of gangs then going to its leaders, going to the top of the food chain in LA. I liked its interest in Harrigan but still dont see why take so much tome to kill him, he had so many opportunities, just because its the main character they decided to make pussyface lazy to finish him of quickly. Its seems Pussyface took a really interest in human language, by how much it used to haunt and to express its opinion, really cool. 9,5

19-p2-sword.jpg

Its great to see that each one of members of the pred species is a completely differernt individual than the other with its own personality, just like us. The last scene with the Elder giving the gun to Harrigan was the best scene in the movie.

PREDATORS 7.25/10 1h46m

still004.jpg

Characters/Acting: 8.5/10

The concept of all characters was great, they had a lot of potencial, specially Noland but ended up wasted. Cuchillo and Mombasa were cut too short. It would have been better to have more characters that could be used as cannon fodder at the start and have them last longer.

Royce and Isabelle relationship was incredible, being the best executed part in the movie, Royce is exactly how one should imagine a mercenary, that by the Hemingway quote seemed to do it more for fun than money. He is a predator, he is exactly the kind of guy Predators would want to hunt and could have a shot of surviving against them. He is a lone survivor and he will do what he needs to survive, worrying about people thinking you are big meanie in that scenario is dumb. It would be unrealistic and boring to have a killer act like a stereotypical nice guy.

And his philosophy was there to clash with Isabele’s mindset, thus served as a way to develop the relationship between the 2 characters through the movie.and she is probably my favorite female character on the franchise.

They should have at least made a extended version, they were more character development in the deleted scenes but then it could make the issue of taking way too long for the action too start, which in the end doesn’t pay off the wait.

History/Development: 6/10

game-preserve-planet

Ok… lets start with the good points: preds using a game preserve to capture humans to hunt together with other alien creatures, multiple preds, a Predator race war, a long start until the preds shows up. The concept of the place being hell, the preds like being the devils and the humans are monsters being sent there to pay, even thought the pred vs pred was not that great, its still cool to watch, been waiting for this since I played predator concrete jungle, the same with the hanzo vs pred fight, its ok. The pred gore was great, the classic decaptaion, the Berserker being cutted until losing its head, even thought the Royce vs Beserker copied dutch vs anytime a little I like it.

Now my complains: its great to take some time for the predators to show up, they were great in bulding up the tension and athmosphere. That part with the trap with Cuchillo was great around after the waterfall part the movie just drags for too long, and it doesn’t live up to what it spend the fist half building up to, once the action starts I want to see the Predator, all of them you know?  I mean the multiple predatos appearence have a lot of potencial, and I wanted to see their interaction, strategies, behavior with each other… but its wasted. The other alien creatures barely appear and would be cool to see how the preds hunt those creatures, and them joining humans to survive againt the preds, I mean there is 3 preds for a few humans, some of them can barely even defend themselves, since they only got simple weapons.

We have seen in the first movie a predator takes out a much better team of people with no problem and he was playing with them most of the time. So how can those people stand a chance? They are done, but with Noland, the other creatures and classic pred help they could have a chance… if the preds were as badass as in the first movies.

Looks like they let Rodrigues decide to do the same thing that Cameron did: put the title in the plural, and show multiple creatures, this worked with ALIENS since in ALIEN, the crew didnt had much guns and were just normal people, so its ok to use this as an excuse for making a bunch of aliens being killed by marines in ALIENS and in Predators there wasn’t enough action in the latter half of the movie to make up for the long built up.

It has been shown already that 1 pred is enought to kill a bunch of armed humans, so how can those 3 preds have a difficult time with the task? And its funny because those were called by the ones involves as “super preds” but yet they are smaller, weaker, dumber, slower than Anytime/Pussyface and need to use traps, dogs, falcon againts the characters, damn… even the AVP preds could do better againt humans. Another thing is the classic pred, finally a change to have an antihero pred and a movie with a pred surviving in the end, but he was only used as Berserker’s bitch. Wasted.

I have come up with a theory to explain all the bullshit, even thought some people may see it as a weak excuse… its better than nothing. The preds use the game preserve to train Young preds with an older pred to lead them, as it was shown in behind the scenes pictures, Tracker and Falconer look shorter and smaller than Beserker, so they are probally teen preds, not like the avp ones, those would be like the equivalente of 18 years old, those are like 14-15, just a nice way to explain their behavior, size, and need to capture humans to hunt in their own jungle.

The PREDATORS 7.25/10

classic-predator-04 (3)

Classic – 7.5/10

Design 9/10: Its the original pred, but the mandible looks a little ADI like.

Behaviour 6/10:

Good to see that it didnt became to friendly to Royce, this is what a pred and human “team-up” should be, he did what he could in his last fight and seemed like wanted a fair hand-hand fight with beserker, but in the end it was pointless, he got freed then died shortly, could have a bigger part in the story.

The Berserkers – 7/10

predatorsss

Design 9/10:

My opinion in the design of this new Predator raceare the same, they look great, the masks are unique, their armor have something of the previous movies, they are all different from each other, since they are a different race they have some difference here and there, but they look baddass and like predators, but still they their design look inferior next to the original preds.

Behavior 5/10:

They start their hunt by making the dogs go after humans to test them, then uses Cuchillo as bait, have a nice hunting camp where they do all the slaughtering, they have pleasure of hunting others member of their species – nice. After the first enconter with humans, they just doesnt seems to care about going after them, the humans escape, hide in the hoods, prepare traps, meet with Noland, go in the ship and all, taking a long time…. where were the preds during this? I mean Anytime stayed with Dutch’s team most of time, just watching, studing them. They even have the dogs and falcon to help find the humans but in the end only Tracker ends up having a clue of where the humans are, but only with a little help from Royce.

But how about the other two? What were they doing? Arent they suppose to hunt together? Tracker begins to go pursue the humans… slowly, doesnt look like he is even trying. Then the group is attacked by Beserker, who lets everyone escapes just like that and Falconer, who was behind Beserker watching everything and was too busy doing nothing to stop the humans from escaping or at least killing any of them. So the preds end up being outrun by the humans(lol), Falconer seems to get there in time but Berserker is no where to be seen. Falconer is just slow and doesnt seem to know what he is doing in the duel with Hanzo, but since I have chosen to believe he is just a teen its ok. Beserker end up getting to where the humans got in his trap(after a long time), he fights with classic, blow up his ship(why didnt he just cancelled what classic did?). In his last fight with Royce, he got himself in the same situation as Anytime, so there wasnt much he could do.]

Scar Predator

Characters/Acting: 6/10

avpmovie05

Weyland, his buddy and italian guy were not that bad, Weyland being the most interesting. Alex wasn’t bad at first but ended up getting too annoying, and as she was the main character, fucked the last part, but it was mainly related to the pred-human teamup, and in any case it would end up bad. Others didnt care. And considering how long it takes for the action to start we are stuck with those people for a while, too long. There is a lot of random canon fodder characters, a shitload is just there to get killed. But aren’t really unberable to watch, they don’t frustrate me. Despite this being a versus movie, it can still have great characters.

History/Plot development: 5/10

avp_screenshot05

Predators use Earth to test their teens to become menn by fighting aliens every 100 years, they use humans as bait to go the pyramid to be used as host to the aliens, in this case Weyland and his people, things are suppose to start as soon as the preds get their shoulder cannons which they have to earn in this trial but this time the humans get it first putting themself between the aliens and preds. They have been doing this for thousands of years, as in the past they were view as gods and humans did what they wanted. For me the idea is mostly fine, the preds being viewed as gods seems too much but its not the main issue here anyways.

Main problem is having it set on Earth on modern times, it limits the plot as they try to not contradict the Alien movies and it takes away the thing from the Alien movies of the creatures getting to Earth. It makes humanity relationships with both creatures too deep/old and unnecessary and the setting prevents colonial marines from being included. And I just really think they fucked it up by setting it on modern times. Aliens just don’t fit well.

The movie goes very slow, and when the action starts it doesn’t last too long, all the wait doesn’t pay off and when I imagined some good stuff was going to happen its cut short, too short movie for what it was trying to be it was great how they made one alien and predator from each group be stand up from the others, but they never got to face each other so I felt it was pointless.

The Aliens 7/10:

5431575-3428694088-53389

Normal aliens 6,5/10:

Design 5/10

They pretty much took the Ressurection aliens amd painted them black, Anderson dared to compared them to the Original, because yeah you just need to paint it black and no one will notice the different… what a joke. So yeah, it’s ADI all over again, fleshy crap.

Behavior 8/10

Overall their behavior was fine except that they acted like raptors and walk too much in four legs their sounds were better than the AR ones, they acted smart and deadly but I don’t like how they move.

  Grid 7/10:

Its scars looked cool, he was baddass and its nice to have characterization of one of the aliens. But at the end he is kind of put away and forgotten, we don’t get to see its death.

Queen 8/10:

Some little difference from the one from ALIENS, it feels less biomechanical but still maintaining more consistence to the original design than the normal aliens and its bigger.  We get to see full body shots unlike in aliens, they were able to show it much more in the action.

The Predators 5.75/10

adsd (2).png

Design (its pretty much the same for all of them): 5/10

Masks were cool, faces looked strange, I liked that they made Scar look younger as he is a teen but his mandibles just didnt “close” you know? Just compare to the original preds, looked stupid. Didnt liked the armor design at all, the whole tribal side of the preds is gone.

I’m ok with preds using more armor to protect them from acid and all, but even the preds in the ship use it too, the armor in avp just looks uncomfortable, it just didnt looked real and not much pred-like, the preds in avp2 pc game had more armor but still looked liked preds, and all this talk about using more armor since they are fighting aliens yet for some reason they dont have anything protecting their tights, even Wolf have more protection in his legs than this guys.

Looks like they thought that making everyting bigger would make it better: bigger backpacks, dreads, mandibles, wrisblades, shoulder cannons but it just looks stupid. I liked Chopper blades, the shuriken, the spear looked like shit compared to the P2 one. But the worst part is that they all look the same, same color, same armor, pretty much no individuality, in Predator 2 every pred had its on style, was a different member of the pred species. Why not use the pred2 lost tribe instead of introducing a new clan? Why even bother making all those new preds, if they can just use the other costumes? Some of their armor seems to be resistant to acid… and they dont use this kind of mateirial to trap the queen, letting her escape and their masks cant even protect them form aliens, from bullets yes but from aliens its worthless. Also why change the vision? Having a blue vision that shows humans in red/orange makes them easy to see, but the new vision is all red, and humans show up more or less in red/yellow, not that smart. The alien vision was fine, I like the one from the games more but whatever.

Behavior 6.5/10

 Celtic: 7/10

orig_avpbluray554-700x298

The teen alpha male of this pack, as soon as the humans get the cannons, he goes to check it out, and order Chopper to follow him and Scar to go to other place to track the humans. When he sees the humans, he takes out the one with gun then proceeds to finish him (until here its fine). Ok he just killed the guy, time to get the cannon but instead he grabs the italian in the neck and holds him for like 30 seconds (how come he didnt die?), and let his bro get killed. Then faces off with grid, for a teen fighting with an alien for the first time he was fine, I used to complain that he didnt used the spear, shuriken, dagger, netgun early but I guess the personality of a cocky leader that wants to go hand-to-hand to aliens was cool. He beat the alien and throwed him like a badass but got stupid at the end. People say that he was just acting like the original preds, but those were in much more control of whats was happening. Being a teenager isnt an excuse for making him dumb.

Scar: 5/10

MV5BZDBiZTA2YzctYzk3My00OWY1LWI5MDYtYzI3MmVhY2JhZGE1XkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyNjQ4ODE4MzQ@._V1_.jpg

The supposily smart one of the packs. After he separates from his bros, he finds the humans and proceds to get cannons, but wastes his change and let the humans get away. Then he finds the last 3, but instead of getting the cannon as soon as possible he just walks slow as hell, doesnt look like he is even trying, he just keeps wasting time, preds are suppose to be much faster than humans, but Scar can’t reach lex and sebastian. Then finishs up an alien and facehuggers, Im not even complain about him getting facehugged, because I just really want to see a predalien showing up. Finally, he finds lex but instead of just getting the cannon as soon as possible he just waits her to turn around, then ok he got the cannon, blasted some aliens. Then since he lost his buddies, he decides to gets friends with lex, oh god why, there was no need for that, it was pointless.  He didnt need to team up to survive, but in the movie, they showed that he did, he acted like a dumbass while lex was around just make it look like he needed her help. Making him a loser. He even went as far as teaching her about aliens and making her weapons, those scenes were bad, really bad, I’m not completely against pred-human team ups but it was done really badly. Just shortly after the team up he decides to blow up the pyramid. Seriously? Why? The sacrety temple of his race, just like that? Destroying the changes of any future rites of passage? Killing a Queen? Are those really that easy to capture? Is this even allowed to do in the ritual? Can the preds just build another one like that without problem? The fuck. There should be a big rule against that. I know there was a shit load of aliens and he couldnt take them all, but there were hundreds of preds up there were waiting up who could take care of everything. I mean he killed an alien, got the plasma cannon, mission accomplished, so he just had to leave.

Chopper: 7/10

chopper-predator-03

The cannon fodder Predator, can’t much complain about stupid things he did, since he didnt do much at all, justt a pointless character. They gave him those huge blades so he didn’t even get to use them, waste, he could have at least been to one to kill the humans on the surface.

Fights 7/10:

avp3

The very first fight starts bad, with Grid magically growing his tail 2 times longer to kill Chopper that goes back to normal after the scene is over. Most of the fight between Celtic and Grid is ok but I found it weird how instead of trying to stab Grid, Celtic goes full melee mode. There are great moments, when Celtic uses the net is really satisfying, the result was a surprise and disappointed me. They were trying way too hard to make grid look good. Having 2 of the 3 preds died in 5 minutes to 1 alien fucks any future fights there could have been, I really wanted to see preds fighting together.

Scar gets to shine a little against the aliens  but I wanted more to see something more similar do the previous fight, more melee combat, see him use blades or his spear more. The first alien he kills is cool, the shuriken was interesting, then he shoots some with plasma. But the main problem is Lex’s inclusion afterwards.

The Flashback fight may be the most epic scene in the franchise; Sadly we don’t get more of this, and there is not much worthy action afterwards, the number of fights are too low.

To the “end fight” If it weren’t for Alex saving Scar ass and fucking stabbing an Alien Queen wouldn’t be that bad. Didn’t like the way the Queen was defeated. Also why would the hundreds of preds that were watching didn’t do anything or weren’t attacked by the queen? Really why make a teen like Scar who were only suppose to kill normal xenos fight a Queen and die? The poor fuck passed the ritual and for nothing. Maybe they were punishing him for blowing the pyramid, and I know it must have been interesting to see the fight, but by killing the Queen, it means no more rites of passage, wich was suppose to be a big deal for them, they have been using this Queen for thousands of years and they just say “fuck it we can just get another”

AVP-R Unrated Samhain13 Cut 6.25/10

Characters: 4.5/10

Bad.Bad.Bad. Fuck the teenager love story. Fuck the Ripley and Newt clones. If they had focused only on Dallas and the Xerife we could have gotten some good character development and less crap, as they were the least bad of them. Just damn even some slasher movies(which I like) aren’t that bad on characters. So yeah, overall they are just there so this can have kind of a plot, because the movie real focus is just mindless action. With the fanedit, I only  removed the pizza delivery scene, a fucking pizza delivery scene on alien/predator movie. That scene was just too bad to be in, it doesn’t make much difference since Ricky explains what happens afterwards to Dallas, and fuck it, no one cares about him or the girl anyway.

History/Plot development: 4/10

Not as complex as the first movie, predator ship crashes on Earth with aliens, predator is sent to investigate and then eliminate the aliens. Earth. Again. Have it set on Earth at 2004 again is bad, on a town is worse, have the aliens spread around a city on 2004 is not the kind of thing you see fitting well with the alien series, and haven’t it just blow up to avoid the continuity issues is bs, deux ex machine bs. History isn’t good enough to lead anywhere. The whole shouldn’t even happen if things made sense, predator on the ship shouldn’t have used his plasma cannon, should have used self-destruct instead of distress call, wolf shouldn’t have come alone…

It starts with the predalien killing preds and crashing the ship, the aliens starts to build a hive while Wolf, the pred arrives and investigate the situation and goes to clean up the mess. It starts really good, but the human parts are really bad. Aftewards the Aliens take over the town, the main characters attempt to escape the city and Wolf continues to eliminate the alien. The main problem is that things end up going too fast, to one scene to another we go from like less than 5 aliens to a city full of them, things are really rushed, characters aren’t well developed, the fights aren’t bad but still this movie could have been great with another 30-50 minutes. On the fanedit, I put the scenes with the Predalien implanting alien eggs on the pregnant girls before, just after the lights got out, and with this the aliens increase their numbers in the right time to fit better, before the city appears to have went overrun.

Despite how rushed some stuff is, we get to see more of the creatures and their fights, even if they are short. The pacing on AVPR doesn’t drop after the middle, on AVP the movie climax around the Celtic vs Grid/flashback sequence then it just go downhill and gets ruined. Here we never got much tension built up but the movie stays on its average course all along, the movie climax fight is just fun.

Warriors 5.75/10:

 Design: 5.5/10

Nah, they just changed the heads, necks, and color to cthe opy ALIENS design, I liked the changes but the crappy body is still there.

Behavior: 6/10

Well, against humans they were quite good, stalking, killing any threats, developing a hive in a hidden place like the sewers then taking over the town and moving the hive to the hospital. Agaisnt Wolf, they were overall bad, except from the one in Powerplant fight which I believe made Wolf follow while Predalien and others hide on the store to distract the pred.

Predalien 7/10:

predalien-wallpaper-wp50011308

Design: 6/10

“She” has predator colored parts, a little bit of Scar’s yellow tone reminded me of newborn so fuck you, at least I was able to paint my neca predalien black to stop looking at that shit color. The chest looks like pred chest, head was alright. Don’t mind mandibles or dreads, only care about biomechanical features, his back, arms and legs got some biomeachanical details but rest the rest is just ADI usual work.

Behavior: 8/10

Predator/Wolf: 8.25/10

04-avp2-wristblades (1)

Design: 9/10

Loved it, kind of a mix between the first 2 preds, loved new weapons, gadgets, the facial scars idea, but the mandibles were a little off in some scenes. Like at the intro it didn’t look that bad, then at the end they were little overextending out.

Behavior: 7.5/10

Overall he was good, the moves remind of the original ones, the trap-mines plan on the sewers, stalking the hive location, using humans as baits against the aliens. But the problems: using his bare hands against aliens while having a good spear on his back, skinning a human, not blowing the whole city after he realized everything was out of control.

Fights 7.5/10

aliens_vs_predator_requiem_movie_image__3_

It was the predator ALIEN scenario, Predalien loose on the ship, stalking some preds, on the predalien part it was good but that idiot pred that blew the ship was way stupid, they could have thought of better way to make the ship crash on Earth. First I’m surprised the ship couldn’t take the plasma damage, Second the pred shoot again after missing the predalien and when it was already out of his view.

The build up to the sewer fight it was great, the alien stalking wolf, wolf setting the traps aware of whats around him. The fight was good, great moments, the staredown between wolf and predalien was badass. But the aliens weren’t shown very well.

The power plant fight was kind of weak next to others, less action, just used to give the aliens some glory.

Things started quite good at the shop, Wolf using the humans as baits to get the aliens, but the just when things were getting interesting they cut the scene.

Hospital had lots of action, lots of kills, but we have wolf punching an alien(!) and alien acid not acting.

The final battle was fine, but was expecting it to be longer, also Wolf taking off the mask was unnecessary, they should have madke the predalien rip it off.

Characters: 8.5/10

PROMETHEUS-Logan-Marshall-Green-Noomi-Rapace-Michael-Fassbender

Shaw is overall good, some parts she might seems annoying but just was fine, the issue is more related to how the development of the history affects her than the character itself. Holloway was a dick, his death served a purpose for the history and Shaw, and the passive aggressiveness with David was good since throught it we get more from David but Holloway becoming a dumb drunk, so I couldn’t care much for him.

The relationships between David, Peter and Vickers were the most interesting thing, characters are good, and how they work around each other was great, but it doesn’t lead much anywhere. David is likeable but we can sense some dangerous curiosity on him, and a certain comtempt for his submissive position next to Peter and Vickers. Weyland is something I feel I have seen before, dying powerfull old man that doesn’t want to die, but in the context of the story it fitted well. Vickers on its own is interesting as a human antagonist, but its through her relationship with the other 2 that she becomes interesting, daughter of the Weyland Empire, ignored by her father, who prefers to see David as his true offspring.

Fitfield was ok, but the biologist guy was dumb as fuck. Captain was fine, some bad lines but whatever, his 2 buddies were just there, nothing more. There are some other minor characters but they weren’t good enough to care.

History/Plot development: 6/10

thumb-1920-680417

So, the series just got hijacked by some ancient antrounauts believers, the plot is nothing original, fucking aliens created humanity, and that what the mytery of the space jockey was turned into, yay. Fuck this. I hate the idea of making the alien universe human centric, plus creating a fictional human creation to it. Other than that, the development at the story isn’t bad, at the start at least, a space exploration movie it works quite well, if this wasn’t set on the alien universe it would be quite good. Part of it due to how good and grand everything looks on it, from the settings to its music, which moves a little too much from one of an alien movies, the horror aspect wasn’t great, its more grand space adventure, with boring monsters/mutations whatever the hell those were. Things start to fall apart halfway through, everything up until the investigation of the strutucre was going well, then when stuff happens, its runned by me thinking why is this an alien movie.

There are several minor things that can bother someone, the taking of helmets thing, having Fitfield and the biologist get lost was dumb since he mapped it, how random the goo effects are, how predictable the outcome with the final engineer would be.

All the hype on the story never leads anywhere, we don’t get to know much about the Engineers’s motives, the full purpose and origin of the goo, where to the aliens fit on all of this. I get that we didn’t get an explanation on the eggs’s origin on ALIEN but on here they keep making a big deal out of those things and it doesn’t get anywere, we don’t get anything. Besides it complicates the relationship and origin of both Engineers and aliens, + how the goo relates to all of this, fans can come up with headcanon and fantheories but even then the concepts that are added to this feel unnecessary and pointless to what could have been a better and simpler origin/explanations of the aliens and engineers. Could have been just the normal eggs, classic space jockey and no human creation origin on this.

Creatures: 5.5/10

Goo things: 5/10

will-deacon-from-prometheus-be-alien-covenant-55

The goo itself is dumb, its never properly explained and its effects appears very random and rely on a chain of several random events in order to produce certain results, it has more cons than pros to the alien lore, unnecessary, would be easier to just make normal aliens. The goo seems to turn anything around it on xeno-like creatures, or make them hosts for such things, or just make them die. It turns little worms into huge worms that bleed acid, the effect on humans was different, the effect on the engineers also seemed different. Then there is the first goo at the intro, which is probably a different brand or something.

The deacon was such an improbably thing to happen, well more specifically the trilobite, having to need a male to be infected with a small amount of the goo, which makes him eventually die instead of becoming a violent mutation I guess, then have sex with a female, that will imediatally get pregnant with a squid like creature that grow into an oversize facehugger lookalike monster, just what the hell. That’s too complicated, just make the godamn alien. Next to the original creature this is just dumb.

Engineers: 6/10

Last_Engineer_close-up.jpg

I liked the design of the spacesuits, and the biomechanical suit they wore, which seemed like fused with his body. Apart from that fuck this. The space jockey is an ancient humanoid now, boring and unoriginal, their extremelly pale skin and black eyes at least set them apart from humans but I fucking hate retcon, and this was it. The space jockey was not a suit, Ridley or whoever pulled this crap out of his ass and it was crap and lazy. Also, they are shorter, another retcon, they could at least made them as tall as they should but they went cheaper route. Considering the budget, they could have done this better, it all boils down to bad choices.

Their motivations were cliché, they aren’t fully confirmed but its just, humans are bad, humans need to die, use space goo whatever, its implied that. But I would prefer if they would use the goo not as punishement of out of hatred but merely scientific curiosity of how it would react on Earth. Just a scientific experiement.

The last engineer is turned into a generic slasher monster, that last part with Shaw fighting him with an axe was straight out of a slasher movie, come on girl with an axe trying to kill big bald guy? Fucking Jason Voorhess, but it was dumber with those angry faces the actor was making, just bad. Not what I would expect from a superior species, his bio armor isn’t even that strong, it gets damaged by a gun and then the axe, disappointing how much trouble he had to deal with a girl with an axe.

Let’s start with the best, the androids. I really liked Walter, he was like another bishop, a likeable machine that you could want as a friend. David is becoming what I imagine he would after Prometheus, there are several little nods in the first movie that David was going to become a villain, from lines to his actions he was shown the potential of becoming an antagonist, and here he is. David becomes a cute disturbed evil motherfucker.

Daniels and Oram were good. Both dealing with new challeges they need to face after the accident at the start, they were interesting and I enjoyed them. Daniels at the end went through something similar that Ripley did on ALIENS, I would have preffered it she didn’t take on the aliens all by herself, have the other participate and help more, making the creatures look harder to beat.

The rest oh… are just there for the most part. Apart from Tennessee and Lope, which I wish had participated on the action more instead of just leaving it to Daniels, the other are taken out quite soon and don’t talk much. Lope’s team is mainly use for cannon fodder. The couple that gets a sex scene is there just so at the end the alien can kill them while fucking.

History/Plot development: 7/10

The decision to make it more of an Alien movie has both its pros and cons, good that it has aliens on it, but it doesn’t execute that very well and its kind of shits on the stuff from Prometheus, meaning the “answers” and the engineers get thrown under the bus. Because David, which is the true star of the movie, you can see how much Ridley is into, like fuck, he is so romantized, and the sexual stuff with him. A goddamn emotional sexually frustrate raping android. That’s actually interesting and they didn’t need to fuck the rest to include this. David could just explain more about the Engineers on a bad guy monologue.

Most of the first half goes quite well, as a suspense scifi horror it does its job well with the Neomorphs, it is a good movie, the issues are mainly creature related despite them being presented better than in Prometheus. When David appears the movie still continues quite well, it is only after the actual Alien stuff begins that things feel like they could have been done better.

The third act feels somewhat weird, aliens are too rushed, they die too soon after they are born, despite all this talk about perfect they aren’t proving themselves. After the first there is a break that ruins the pacing, then they asspull another Alien just so they can have another action sequence.

Now that aliens were completely unexpected by me, because you know the guy cutted off the facehugger off Lope’s face in seconds, and its kind of died on its own, yeah that was weird I should have suspected this shit was going to happen when I saw that. So now facehuggers can implant hosts instantly. Go watch ALIEN you fucking assholes. I suppose they need to improve the implantations method to compare better to the Neomorph’s. Dipshits.

Heck they pulled a goddamn couple is killed having sex on an Alien movie, we managed 7 movies without that, AVPR managed to not pull that slasher movie cliché and fucking Ridley pull this crap on an alien movie. First boobs on an Alien movie and they didn’t look good enough.

The fanedit flows better, the edited crossing works very well, only showing David looking down on the planet, we only see the goo being used on the flashback which is placed a little later, fitted better there too.

Creatures: 5.75/10

Neomorph: 6/10

My view is not much different than in regards the goo creatures from Prometheus but they were presented better, they were able to look cool. The issue is how easy they can infect host, it feels too overpowered, like its just some tiny air stuff that easily enters any orifice and fastly grows the creature, there is not much escape, its like going over the egg/facehugger part and straight to the burster.

David says the point of the goo is to creature these creatures, but I don’t believe his words, this doesn’t go with what we saw on Prometheus, well the goo did just kill all engineers instead of making Neomorphs out of them so whateve, guess they can just retcon what the goo does because they love retcons.

So, the creature itself was interesting, issue was what it was and meant on the movie, they should have just gone with that beluga alien’s idea, since this is based on that, these would be naturally born aliens, then the ones we saw in the original movies are weaponized versions created by the Engineers.

Alien: 7/10

Design: 7/10

It looks like a mix of the original aliens with the Runner, I like it more than the runner but its still too fleshy and bone-like. Biomech stuff is screwed. It looks great in some shots, like when its standing on 2 legs, like it should, as it came out of a bipedal humanoid. But when it runs it goes dog more, thus the runner comparsion.

Behavior: 7/10

Again, Runner comparison, its pretty much a killing machine that is there go after the main characters, no attempts to build a hive, neither it tries to engage in any reproduction method. They didn’t last long in action, should have been just 1 alien instead of two.

Engineers: 4/10

Fuck. They ruined it. Whatever was left that hadn’t been fucked in Prometheus was know pounded beyond redemption, they are just bald guys on robes. At least in the previous movie, their faces looked inhuman, you could tell they aren’t human, and they have that biomechanical suit that seemed fused with their body, or their bodies was morphed into. Now they are just some low budget bastards.
